#10: Celebrating Celebrities

A majority of people today are inspired by celebrities. I am too, but not only that, I am inspired by time periods. I don't have one certain style. My style just depend on how I feel in a certain day. I have my days where I want to wear flats and pearls. I have my days when I want to wear my F.I.T. sweater with Uggs. Then, there are days when I want to where my stud earrings and combat boots.

I have been inspired my many celebrities, but here are just some:Rita Ora, Jessica Jarrell,

Lately, I've also been inspired by the 90s trend.

#9 WE WANT SOMETHING NEW

New show formats, are what I feel, keeps the audience interested. We don't want to see the same thing every year: the typical runway show, the typical trunk show, or even the typical lookbook.

In 2006, Alexander McQueen took it to a new level for the debut of one of his collections in Paris. It wasn't just any fashion show. In the fashion show, McQueen displayed a hologram of Kate Moss. It was so nice how the hologram was spinning in front of the live audience and them just adoring the flowy garment she was wearing.

I feel like technology is the future for fashion. A lo of advisements in the fashion industry have been made through technology. For example, there are no fashion apps that provide trend updates, promos, and sales. It makes it more convenient for customers.

#8: Set Sight on a LookBook

A lookbook is a collection of pictures available to display models, photographers, a trend, or a designer's collection.

This is an advantage for fashion designers to show of their new line each season to their customers.

Post 7: Trunk Shows!

Trunk Shows!

A trunk show is a special sale in which vendors present merchandise directly to store personnel or select customers at a retail location or venue. (wiki)

I feel this is a great way for the vendors to get feedback from their customers at a wholesale level or retail level of how they feel about the intended selling product. This feedback allows the vendor to know the customers' needs and wants. It's like a focus group at a nice venue.

Post 6: Video Fashion Show

Chanel | Summr 2012 Fashion Show

I definitely will say this is one of my favorite fashion shows. It'ssowhimsical, yet edgy. Chanel always has a "WOW" factor in his fashion shows where the people in their seats should feel as if thy are in Winter Wonderland. I love the apparel that the brand has walking down the runway. The soft shades of pastel against the snowwhite background. I love how the modes enter the runway area like they've just exited a cave. They are all walkig ina myriad of diractions in different styles of cothing to depict what is up and comin from this retailer in te spring.  I believe if I was there, I would completely forget that I was at a fahion show and just enjoy the scenery.

Post 5: Visual Merchandising

I wanted to take a different route on visual merchandising. Instead of going to the big city of lights for window displays, I deicided to go down Fulton street in Brooklyn to look at a couple of stores there. The window display in Rainbow is actually different from Forever 21 and H&M. Even though theses companies are all trying to appeal to an audience. They are trying to appeal to different audiences. Rainbows audience is more of an urban feel for a young teen demographic to a young adult demographic. Rainbow's apparel is priced a little lower than Forever 21.

Ahsley's is another brand I pass by on Fulton Street, in Brooklyn, occasionally. This company's target market is a woman of a more curvy, thicker shape. Their sizes run from 12 to 21. In the displays the store tries to grab the attention of their audience by having big signs conveying low price points and sales. Also, they have women of urban style displayed on a poster to let their customer know how great they would look in Ashley's apparel because the clothing is made for women of their sizes.

4th Post: New York Times

Cathy Horyn Has Lots To Talk About!!
New York Times Fashion & Style provides a nice insight of the trends and events happening in this very industry with interesting comments and photos. I enjoyed Cathy Horyn's article of Balenciaga. She gave clear inights so descriptive, it's like you're there: stating comments like, "A sustained roar followed as the models, still in their ruffles and tweeds, cheered".

Fashion reporters use a langage that entices its readers, especially when it comes to runways. Cathy Horyn gave great wording when giving description apparel silhouette/design, details, color, fabric, and with the help of creative "jargon".

She gave commetary on the
silhouette of the tops when saying,
"In one sense, the lean tailoring and
white squared-off tops..."

"He didn't erase the Modernist geometry
of recent seasons, but he used more
harmoniously with the fabrics."

Mr. Ghesquiere found a new
silhouette: an easy tank dress, almost
an apron, with a flared skirt and a
swag of fabric of fabric in the front.

She gave a bit of visionary
thought while describing the collection as
something like mythology in Greece with a
hint of nature: by his detailing thorns
or barbed wire.
She states that is by Veronique Branquinho, describing it as a "gathered top and slinky skirt in a glazed fabric". This is giving her readers a color hint on how the garment reflected in the light.

She says that Dries Van Noten made an idiosycratic statement. She compared his designs to a grungy style much like Marc Jacobs' release of his grungy plaid. "Some of his outfits truly looked grungy, like a flabby gray pullover worn with vintage floral-print pajama pants and an untucked plaid shirt.....slouchy pants.....silvery plaid shorts....wrap vests." ...or as I may say.... it's the new 90s
And don't forget Rocha's satin pencil skirt, retro swimuit, leg trousers, and blouses in white stretch brocade.....or may say... the Claire McCardell's simplicity enhanced.

Rick Owens had his own personal style with the "semitransparent" outfit. He gave character to his design by adding glossiness and silver. Cathy Horyn described his designs as "light and airy".....or I may say... it reminded me of something like space wear with the glossiness and silvery white colors, and with the hairstyle of the model.
